Blue Jay is located near the southwest shore of Lake Arrowhead, among tall pines, in a quaint alpine setting. In 1934, Blue Jay was mis-named for the colorful birds that live in the area (the local birds are actually Stellars Jays, not Blue Jays) and today is know for fine shops, restaurants and recreational facilities. It is the home to Jensen’s Grocery Store (a high-end gourmet mix of items) and the only Starbucks Coffee on the mountain. The only movie theaters on the mountain are also located in Blue Jay.
Blue Jay is host to numerous events including the Blue Jay Jazz Festival, Blue Jay Film Festival, and the world’s shortest parade
the Blue Jay Christmas Parade.
Blue Jay has a few distinct Real Estate areas: Blue Jay Canyon and Dogwood Canyon are located behind the gates just past the old Ice Castle Ice Skating Rink (now a professional building). This area contains 142 acres of greenbelt, and the owners have their own association. Other areas include: the Little Bear Tract, and the homes along Daley Canyon.
